EKONNECT is a transformative project dedicated to fostering the growth of local Eco-preneurs through the power of technology and mentorship. At EKONNECT, we recognize the crucial role that environmentally conscious entrepreneurs play in addressing global challenges. Our initiative is rooted in providing mentorship, guidance, and business linkages to empower Eco-preneurs on their journey towards creating sustainable enterprises.

Beneficiary Profile:

Our target is to work with at least 50 Eco-preneurs, primarily SMEs in four counties: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru & Machakos. We specifically focus on women-led Eco-preneurs in Agribusiness, Waste, Energy, Health, and Fashion, aged between 24 and 45, with traction demonstrated through sales and at least one year of business experience.

Goal of the Mentorship Program:

The EKONNECT Eco-preneur Mentorship Program aims to align the expertise and passions of our dedicated mentors with the specific needs of environmentally conscious entrepreneurs. Through technology and mentorship, we strive to enhance business operations, foster sustainability, and drive overall growth.

Who can be guided and helped?

Open to environmentally focused enterprises, EKONNECT welcomes businesses registered in Kenya seeking advisory support, training, and mentorship. Mentees are expected to be active participants, receiving guidance while respecting the mentor’s time and commitment.

Role of the Eco-preneur Mentee:

As a mentee, you commit to:

  • Actively engage with a mentor and initiate necessary contact.
  • Develop annual, monthly, and weekly action plans, sharing them with your mentor.
  • Notify EKONNECT if the mentoring relationship becomes unproductive, providing constructive feedback.
  • Share financial and operational goals, strategies, and company status with your mentor.
  • Commit to developing a business plan before the program kicks off.
  • Investigate potential solutions to business challenges before involving the mentor.
  • Take responsibility for final decisions and consequences.
  • Be considerate of the mentor’s time.
  • Accept or refuse advice, understanding that the mentor’s guidance is given in good faith.

Expectations and Responsibilities of the Eco-preneur Mentee:

Mentees are required to:

  • Submit a completed Mentee Registration Form.
  • Operate within EKONNECT’s legal and ethical policies.
  • Accept no financial investment from mentors; all financial transactions are approved by the EKONNECT Advisory Board.
  • Be punctual and prepared for scheduled sessions.
  • Maintain stable internet for smooth communication.
  • Discuss communication frequency expectations with mentors.
  • Provide timely feedback through the Mentee Feedback Form.
  • Report any unethical behavior by mentors or advisors.
  • Contact the EKONNECT Project Coordinator with concerns regarding the mentorship relationship.

Participants can expect to:

  • Receive support and advice on financial, technical, legal, and general business issues.
  • Learn valuable business strategies from experienced mentors.
  • Increase awareness through information sharing.
  • Access timely information on business financing and grant opportunities.

MENTEE AGREEMENT

Roles and Responsibilities:

I, agree to actively participate as an eco-preneur mentee in the EKONNECT Mentorship Program. I commit to sharing my business challenges and ideas openly, understanding that advice provided by mentors carries no fiduciary obligation.

Confidentiality:

I acknowledge the importance of confidentiality in building trust and agree to maintain the confidentiality of personal and business experiences shared by mentors.

Conflict of Interest:

I understand and agree to report any real, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to the EKONNECT Project Coordinator.

Time Commitment:

I commit to responding promptly to mentor communications, fostering a trusting and mutually beneficial relationship.

Relationship Management:

I agree to communicate professionally and resolve conflicts with mentors, involving the EKONNECT Coordinator if necessary.

Feedback:

I commit to providing feedback through the Mentee Feedback Form to enhance the EKONNECT Mentorship Program.

Limitation of Liability and Indemnification:

B filling the form below, I understand that mentor advice is advisory, and I alone bear responsibility for decisions. I agree to hold harmless and indemnify mentors, professionals, agents, and staff of EKONNECT from any claims resulting from program participation.
